Tenancy Support Service
The Centre also employs five staff that support people living in their own tenancies. The emphasis is on preventing homelessness occurring in the first place or re-occurring after successful resettlement. Referrals are from the Local Authority/from the Centre.
People are supported with a number of issues including budgeting, cooking, setting up/maintaining access to utilities, neighbour issues etc. People with a range of issues are supported including those with alcohol/drug dependencies, mental health problems.
From a business point of view this service makes sense in that it helps to prevent costly eviction/court costs and lack of income from abandoned properties but more importantly it is of real moral benefit to people who need support to live independently and maintain a sense of citizenship.
